Nathan Avakian
Nathan is a New York City based lighting designer specializing in dance and musical theatre. Credits include Lighting Design: Secondo and Elf (Seven Angels Theatre), Butterside Down (Cherry Lane Theatre), Hit Her With The Skates (Hamilton Stages), Yours, Anne and A Christmas Carol (Half Moon Theatre), Shipwrecked! (Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre), Cherubim (FringeNYC), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Purchase Opera); Lighting Direction: The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze and Lightscapes (Historic Hudson Valley); Associate/Assistant Lighting Design: What The Butler Saw (Westport Country Playhouse), Claudio Quest (New York Musical Theatre Festival), In Your Arms (New York Stage & Film), Red Noses (Princeton University), and NBC Easter Special (Christian Cultural Center). Nathan is resident designer at the Stissing Theatre Guild and South Side High School, and he mentors student designers at Arlington High School.
Nathan graduated from Purchase College in 2014 with a B.F.A. in Lighting Design. In between shows he works as a songwriter, film composer and organist.
